DAY 1: The morning of June 25, Tim and I were talking and I passingly said “man, why can’t we just leave now for our trip”. (We were planning a bike trip up the East Coast of South Korea for one week of our 3 week span of no housing [see previous post] and were planning to leave June 30). Tim walked off into another room and I thought he went unfazed by the comment. A few minutes pass and Tim comes out and says, “let’s do it! Let’s pack up today and take off tomorrow!” Now this involved quite a bit. We were leaving a temporary house, and did not have a new house to put our things in to. A few generous friends allowed us to store a few suite cases and Tim’s racing bikes with them. So all day Thursday, and most of the day Friday we packed, cleaned, and moved… in to our car.

So in the afternoon on Friday June 26 we hopped in our new van and were off. We had NO set destination and no home. We were officially living out of our car. Me, Tim, and our 4 kids, including our 2 year old Foster daughter… let that sink in a moment… no place to call home for 3 weeks, no destination as we set off on this true adventure!

We decided to head South and on the way talked of our options; go South East, go straight down south, go South West, go almost to the southern most point, but 1 large city up....All we knew, was that we had to be in Samcheok (about 1/2 way up the East Coast) on Monday to meet up with friends & we had hotel reservations.

We decided to go all the way down to Busan, the most Southeastern part of Korea, to begin our biking journey. As I drove Tim looked up places to stay and we landed on a guesthouse just a block from the beach.
