So last night Tim received a text from the apartment owner telling us that he wanted to "entertain us for breakfast”. Of course we couldn't resist! Especially after we had described our mentality of the trip to the boys as being one of “going where the wind blows us”. (As you can imagine that took a lot of explaining to a 3, 4, and 5-year-old.) We met the host at 7:30 AM this morning and he took us to the provincial government building across the street for a buffet Korean style breakfast.
During our meal we made some more spontaneous plans to follow him to a nearby world heritage site, a traditional Korean hanok village. So, off in our car we followed . A few minutes later he stopped at the base of a small mountain, in-known to us, we were to hike to the top for a photo op of the heritage site, which was across the river; all while the host doads on the boys.
A quick 20 minutes later we were back in the car driving 100km an hour trying to keep up with this guy as we follow him on a winding country road to the actual heritage site.
We did not stay long as we were eager to bike some more...We said goodbye to the host, left the heritage site, went back to the room to pack up & move on to our, still unknown, next destination... An episode of paw patrol later, we had packed, booked our next hotel, and made some flexible plans on how to get there.
Kristin drove the car with 2 napping boys while Tim pulled the oldest in the trailer, letting him control the go pro which was a huge entertainment. We each had our own versions of fun exploring the area and seeing where each road would lead. We met back up about 25km later where Titus hopped in the car for the final stretch to the “new” hotel while Tim biked the entire way tallying 80km for the day.
For a last minute booking, the room was great. It was a love motel, as you can tell by the decor and items provided in the room; t was clean and spacious so we didn’t mind. We found ourselves at Outback for a nice meal and topped it off with Baskin Robins before heading off to bed.
Tomorrow’s plan is to do a little leap frog family bike ride, stopping to let the kids play while Tim heads back to move the car to our current location… repeating the process until we arrive in Daegu.
