No Shave No Run November is OVER!
No Shave November or should I say No Running November.
As November closes out, I am excited to take on running again in December.
If you have kept up with us at all, you know that I (Tim) have been struggling with a few things, one being an injury [see World Championships Recap].
I decided it was in my best interest to stop running for 1 month. I know it seems a little counter-intuitive, if you want to improve you think run more, train more. However when dealing with tendinitis I needed to do the opposite. For the month of November I did not run. at.all.
Stopping cold-turkey was hard! Running is the most convenient form of exercise because you get your biggest ‘bang for buck’ in the shortest time. I typically run about 3-4 times a week, logging over 50km a week. I had to get creative in my training. I incorporated more swimming and cycling on the trainer, but switched it up with doing some strengthening workouts as well. Plus lets be honest, I took a bit of a break after Tongyeong focusing on family and work.
During my no run November. I missed running and the feeling it brings of being completely drained. I am excited to start back but will have to contain myself to keep it easy and increase my distances and intensity gradually as to not re-injure myself.
Well, that is all for now, I’m off to run!
